Since November 2021, the Zentralwäscherei Zürich (ZWZ) has been operated by the Verein Zentralwäscherei, a collective of various groups that successfully applied for the interim use of the space. The goal is to create an open and inclusive venue for art, culture, political discussions, and gastronomy. Decisions are made democratically and supported by working groups in areas such as curation, IT, and outdoor design.
The cultural program at ZWZ is diverse, featuring concerts, theater performances, dance events, performances, and club nights. Political discussions, including topics like urban development, are also part of the agenda. A key focus is on engaging the local community and providing a platform for marginalized groups.
In addition to its events, ZWZ offers a bistro serving fresh lunch menus and tapas in the evening. A bar complements the gastronomic offering and remains open until the early morning hours on weekends.
For those interested in creative work, sewing and screen-printing workshops are available. After an introductory course, these spaces are open to everyone, fostering a sense of community and hands-on artistic expression.
More than just a cultural venue, Zentralwäscherei is a dynamic space for creativity, exchange, and social discourse.
