About this Episode
Dima Safronov is a DJ, promoter, and the founder of the independent online station 5/8 : radio, launched in 2017. Across the station’s social media, each of the many mixes by Dima and his collaborators is accompanied by a vivid annotation. Instead of standard genre tags or formulaic artist descriptions, these take the form of short literary vignettes. Each one, in its own way, revolves around what Marcel Proust called “involuntary memory”: a passing object or an ordinary, everyday moment suddenly triggers a flood of recollections. In the summer of 2025, Dima released his debut record pixel rain on the Spanish visionary label Elephant Gait, known for its focus on progressive electronic music.
